Installation of Auxiliary Air Suspension

Experience with VB Air Suspension Auxiliary Air Suspension in the GiottiVan 60B

After my Citroën Jumper was delivered with a Light Chassis and only one leaf spring, a problem quickly became apparent: The rubber buffer was already on stop upon delivery, which led to a very limited spring travel. Every unevenness in the road was directly transmitted to the body and felt in the interior, which significantly impaired the driving experience.

To solve this problem, I had an auxiliary air suspension from VB Air Suspension retrofitted. The installation was relatively straightforward, as the wheels did not have to be removed. A clear advantage of this solution is that it better decouples the chassis from the body. The vehicle now drives much more comfortably, and road unevenness is hardly transmitted into the vehicle interior.

Another advantage of this air suspension is the possibility of height leveling without the use of ramps. This is particularly helpful when camping or loading the vehicle, as the vehicle always stands straight regardless of the surface. The control panel was conveniently integrated between the steering wheel and the gear lever and is easy to operate.

Of course, there are also a few disadvantages: The price of the auxiliary air suspension is not insignificant, and the compressor can be a bit noisy during use, which may be perceived as annoying.

Overall, however, the retrofit has significantly improved the driving experience and comfort, especially on longer journeys or uneven roads.
